The
Komansky Center for Children's Health Interhospital Transport Service
is dedicated to providing rapid response with a highly skilled and
experienced team of doctors, nurses and paramedics. We utilize the
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Medical Services to transport
critically ill or injured children to our pediatric intensive care
unit (PICU) from hospitals in the tri-state area and have available
state-of-the art equipment to make the transport as safe as possible.
To transfer a child to the PICU at the Komansky Center, call 212-746-0308. You can consult with an attending intensivist or pediatric critical care fellow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If the decision is made to transfer the patient, transport arrangements can be made immediately. When a transfer has been arranged, a copy of the child's medical records and other pertinent information should be sent with the patient. We try to keep an open line of communication with the referring physician and encourage you to call for follow up. We also try to return all patients to their referring hospital when it becomes medically feasible.
If you are a parent and are considering having your child transferred
to the our PICU, please discuss this with your child's physician.
If you and your doctor determine that your child might benefit from
our services we would be happy to discuss it with him/her and to provide
any assistance we can in arranging the transfer. Your child's physician
should feel free to contact us for a telephone consultation.
